Costco sets Nov. 5 opening for new South Meridian store by Kuna line

Meridian and the west Treasure Valley

The new Costco near the Meridian-Kuna line now has an opening date. BoiseDev reports the South Meridian store at 203 E. Tower Ln. will open Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, at 8 a.m., and Costco’s own warehouse page shows the same date for the S Meridian Warehouse.

This is the store near Lake Hazel Rd. and Meridian Rd. on Meridian’s south side, right by the Kuna boundary. From a real estate standpoint, that location is what jumps out to me. This isn’t just one more place to shop. It’s part of a larger shift in an area that already has more housing and retail lined up.

What’s opening

According to BoiseDev, the new warehouse building totals 200,342 square feet. Costco’s website lists the store as the S Meridian Warehouse and shows the phone number as (208) 576-7183.

A few key details:

  • Opening date: Nov. 5, 2026
  • Opening time: 8 a.m.
  • Address: 203 E. Tower Ln., Meridian
  • Area: Near Lake Hazel Rd. and Meridian Rd., close to the Kuna city boundary
  • Store size: 200,342 square feet

For people who live in south Meridian, north Kuna, or are moving that direction, this is the kind of opening that can quickly change where errands happen and which intersections get busier.

The bigger project around it

BoiseDev also reported earlier this month that Brighton Corp. is seeking approval to change plans for land next to the Costco site. City application materials cited in that report show the revised proposal would allow:

  • 400 multifamily units
  • 240 single-family homes
  • 19 acres rezoned for higher-density housing
  • 8.2 acres rezoned to commercial use

That project was previously known as Apex Zenith and is now called Momentum.

I think that matters because people sometimes look at a new store as a standalone change when it usually isn’t. In this case, the retail piece and the housing piece are tied to the same broader growth pattern. BoiseDev has also previously reported that a WinCo is planned just down the road at Columbia Rd. and Meridian Rd., which tells you this corridor is getting more than one major shopping anchor.

What happens next

The store opening is the near-term milestone, but it also triggers other deadlines. An Idaho Transportation Department STAR agreement ties later road-improvement design work to Costco opening its doors.

Under that agreement:

  • Preliminary design plans for Phase 2 improvements are due within six months after the Costco opening
  • Final design plans for Phase 2 improvements are due within twelve months after the Costco opening

BoiseDev also reported that the hearing on Brighton’s adjacent zoning changes was postponed to Nov. 5, 2026.

So Nov. 5 is doing a lot of work here. It’s the day the store opens, and it’s also tied to both the nearby land-use conversation and the road-improvement timeline that follows.

My take

If you live nearby, I’d pay attention to the roads just as much as the ribbon cutting. A Costco opening is easy to understand. The transportation follow-through is what tells you how this area will function once the first rush wears off.

For buyers and sellers, I’d separate the short-term from the long-term:

  • Moving soon: expect shopping convenience to change immediately, and traffic patterns to start shifting right away.
  • Looking a few years out: watch the adjacent Momentum application and the Phase 2 road design schedule.
  • Own nearby: read the city application materials if you want the clearest picture of what may be built next door.

More new homes nearby usually mean more choices for buyers and more competition for resale sellers. More retail nearby can make an area more convenient, but it also brings more cars, more turning movements, and more construction phases after the grand opening. That tradeoff is pretty clear here.
